Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you first get into mixology? Who/what/where taught you what you know?

It all started in college, I was sick of drinking jungle juice and taking shots. I started reading and watching everything related to cocktails and started hosting events at my home to practice. I focus on easy to mix cocktails so viewers at home don’t get intimidated with all the advanced techniques and uncommon Ingredients.

What are you excited about in the world of mixology right now?

I’m excited about all the new spirits being distilled everyday. I keep up with craft distillers and it’s really fun to try their spirits. There’s a big difference in the process and taste for new distillers and those who have been doing it for generations.

What’s something you’ve learned from your experience in mixology?

One thing that I’ve learned from the community and from my guest is that simple cocktails are usually a crowd favorite. When I host my events, cocktails that use 3 ingredients on average are the most popular, especially the margaritas.

What is one recipe that you created on your own that you’re really proud of?

One of my favorite cocktails is my sparkling sake cocktail mixed with sake, St-Germain, grapefruit, and sparkling water. Sake isn’t used a lot in mixing cocktails but I love using it because it has less proof than your usual spirits and it’s a great way to introduce new beverage enthusiasts to cocktails without intimidating them with a martini.
