Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you first get into mixology? Who/what/where taught you what you know?

I’m actually a photographer but started working with liquor brands and had to learn more about mixology to help them develop and create interesting cocktails. I started reading books like Death & Co and took an online mixology class. I’m still learning a lot about mixology and spirits through the instagram cocktail community.

What are you excited about in the world of mixology right now?

Because of COVID so many people are home right now. It’s unfortunate that so many bars are closed but I do love how the community has come together to share and teach. So many people are using it as an opportunity to be creative and support each other. I’ve learned so much from this community and I’m constantly inspired by the creations I see every day.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Besides bartenders and mixologists, my biggest inspiration is from cooking and baking. Before starting my cocktail blog I actually had a food blog. My knowledge of food has allowed me to think about how different flavors pair together. Sometimes I even think of certain drinks as a food recipe but in liquid form.

What is one recipe that you created on your own that you’re really proud of?

This cocktail is based on one of my favorite cocktails, the Jungle Bird. The Campari and pineapple juice work together well with the bitter and sweet and fruity flavors. I wanted to create a riff on this cocktail with the same idea but also more of a spiced flavor to compliment the rum. I swapped cold brew coffee for the Campari and added cinnamon syrup. This is my all time most popular post on instagram and was also featured on The Feed Feed.
