The Old Fashioned dates back to the 1800s, but its simple build and reliable comfort make it a favorite today. It’s strong without being too overbearing, and sweet without being too sweet. Done properly, this cocktail is an open gate for those new to enjoying rye or bourbon whiskey, as it mellows out the intensity of the whiskey without masking its flavors. It can be enjoyed on a patio during the summer or by the fire in the winter as temperatures drop.
