The family that makes up the Corpse Revivers are often drunk to counter the effects of a hangover from the previous night. The drink is consumed as a ‘hair of the dog’ mixture for a quick pick-me-up effect that traces its origin back to Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Cocktail Book where Craddock outlined recipes for both Corpse Reviver #1 and Corpse Reviver #2. In his book, Harry teases the ironic concept of drinking more alcohol to lessen the physiological and psychological effects of a hangover with the following witty comment about the Corpse Reviver #2: “four of these taken in quick succession will un-revive the corpse again.”
