Invented in the 1920’s, this bourbon whiskey cocktail will give your taste buds a refreshing kick – but remains ideal for Sunday brunches, evening parties, or sipping at home. The drink is a variation of the sister cocktail, the French 75, but the difference being the substitution of bourbon for gin. You can also add a dash or two of orange bitters for additional complexity. With the right proportions of lemon juice, simple syrup and bourbon you’ll be able to shake and strain yourself the perfect French 95 – a tribute to the battlefield firearm that originally inspired the drink’s name.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • ¾ oz Lemon Juice
  • ½ oz Simple Syrup
  • Dry Champagne

Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare a Champagne Glass
  2. Combine Bourbon, Lemon Juice, and Simple Syrup in a shaker filled with ice and shake. 
  3. Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain into Champagne Glass. 
  4. Top with Dry Champagne.
