This classic cocktail was said to be first created in Florence, Italy, at Caffè Casoni when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to strengthen his Americano by replacing the soda water with gin. Thus, the Negroni was born. Easy to make, the vermouth in this cocktail tones down the bitterness that the Campari brings. A great starter recipe for those who are new to enjoying drinks with traditional Italian apéritifs.
