Another classic cocktail with roots in New Orleans, the Sidecar. Dating back to after the First World War, it’s a well-balanced combination of cognac, triple sec, and lemon juice. Don’t hesitate to experiment with the ingredient proportions of the Sidecar, most bartenders in the late 19th and 20th century often did in order to find the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Or, try replacing the cognac with bourbon for a Bourbon Sidecar!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Cognac
  • ½ oz. Cointreau 
  • ¾ oz. Lemon Juice
  • ¼ Simple Syrup
  • Orange Twist (to garnish)

Preparation Steps:

  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake. 
  2. Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain into a Coupe Glass
  3. Garnish with Orange Twist.
